This Might Hurt Tarot is a fresh, contemporary tarot deck created in the timeless Rider-Waite-Smith tradition. While it honours the classic symbolism and archetypes that have guided tarot readers for generations, this deck refreshes the imagery by shedding the medieval trappings and settings, making it more accessible and meaningful to today’s diverse and modern audience.

The artwork reflects present-day life, with clothing, environments, and characters that you will recognise and relate to. This inclusivity extends to embracing a wide range of identities, cultures, and expressions, including a heartfelt celebration of queerness and diversity throughout the cards. The result is a deck that feels alive and welcoming for anyone, regardless of background or experience.

Like most traditional tarot decks, This Might Hurt Tarot features the full set of 78 cards, comprising 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana cards. A distinctive and deeply personal touch is found in the court cards and some select Minor Arcana cards, which are portraits of real people from the artist’s own life. These faces bring a unique vibrancy and authenticity, infusing the deck with warmth, personality, and a genuine connection to the human experience.

Isabella, the creator, poured her heart into crafting this deck as a mirror of our contemporary world, aiming to make tarot readings not only insightful but also deeply personal and joyful. She hopes that readers will find the deck as inspiring and empowering to work with as she did in its creation—helping you navigate your own journey with honesty, compassion, and courage.

Whether you are new to tarot or an experienced reader, This Might Hurt Tarot invites you to explore the familiar mysteries of the tarot through a fresh lens—one that honours tradition while embracing the realities and complexities of modern life.
